Write Your Own Tutorials

For several months, I have posted a number of tutorials here, and they have all been written by myself. This is great, but I think there are many of you out there who could contribute your own findings and tips as well. So, I’ve decided to open up this website for others to post tutorials on.

So, if you have anything you’d like to write about, or have some code you’d like to share, email your tutorial in a .zip file to me at sjames@innovativegames.net. Please include: your name, a link to your web site (if you have one), the title of your tutorial, the text of your tutorial, any images to include in the tutorial (please specify where to include them in the text document), any example code you want included, and a brief description of your tutorial. If you have a thumbnail image you want to use on the tutorials page, include that as well. If you want to, you may also include a list of tags to associate with your tutorial.

I will accept any tutorial that is reasonably put together, and I will post them on their own page under a new ”Tutorials” tab. The tutorials can be on any subject, not just game programming (ie: you could post tips on 3D modeling, or a tutorial on windows application development, or just a post about programming in general, etc.), and they don’t have to be specific to XNA. Your tutorial’s length is not overly important, you don’t have to write a novel if you don’t want to, or you could just post some code with a small description. The language doesn’t necessarily have to be C#, but I would prefer that it is. However, please be careful going beyond C++ and Java if you choose not to use C#.

Each tutorial will be linked to from the tutorials page, and will be hosted on their own page here, which means they will get a unique url, commenting functionality, a “kick it” link at GameDevKicks.com, indexing in all the normal search engines, and indexing in the website’s search results. Your website’s link and your name will also be included on the page, so you can use this as an opportunity to get some recognition.

If you post an article want some info on its page views, incoming links, etc, or want to make an update to your post, feel free to email me.

Finally, don’t be worried, this doesn’t mean I am shutting down the rest of the site. I will still be writing the tutorial series I have been writing, and the forums will stay where they are. This is just an addition and an opportunity for others to write and share their own tutorials.

I was wondering if you allow advertising on this site – because I’d be interested in talking to you!
